How Content Aggregation is Supporting Digital Transformation

How can NAGRA support telcos in their Digital Transformation through our cloud-based OpenTV solution?

As Telcos around the world go through different phases of evolution, there are some common challenges. One of these challenges is about unlocking capital to support the cost of digitalization for new strategic initiatives – and ultimately provide more service and product differentiations. The other main challenge is how to drive greater value through which to safeguard competitiveness, achieve sustainable and durable growth.  In this blog, I’d like to explore both these themes and share some examples on how NAGRA is supporting our customers as they crystalize their content aggregation strategy, adapt their services, and diversify their offerings. 

We have talked in the past about how consumer behavior has orchestrated a change in approach for content aggregation, how it helped reshape traditional business models and ultimately how it brought benefits in almost all areas by driving the industry forward with data-driven, behavior-focused solutions designed to deliver a new level of stickiness with consumers.   But how can these solutions be realized?

Interestingly, their feedback supports the view that content discovery and the value of subscriber behavior data are the most important value-generators a content aggregator can add to a consumer proposition. 

Operators have been adopting new technologies through which to execute new strategies for some time. New headaches are caused when legacy infrastructures start to become incompatible with newer systems and technologies. This contributes to our second challenge; how to achieve sustainable yet durable growth. Often this means operators launch parallel services to reach new audiences on new platforms, but this can have an opposite effect of the original goal and create more complexity rather than less.  On the other hand, product and service differentiation benefits seem easier to yield when adopting a content and service aggregation strategy, because meeting consumers’ demand with personalization & targeted services increases consumer enthusiasm and entices them to spend more time within the operator’s ecosystem.
